GRC products

Glass Reinforced Concrete ( GRC) is a generic nameĀ  for a composite product constructed from a matrix of cement, fine aggregrate and glass fibre. Methods of manufacture are traditional vibration casting method similar to the pre-cast concrete process or spraying process through a special glass/ slurry chopper gun.
GRC combines the high strength of glass fibre with the rigidity of cement mortar to give a tough, rigid material that has a strength to weight ratio superior to most other commonly used building products.

GRC has many advantages:

Light Weight
Compared with pre-cast concrete, GRC products are usually less than 25% of the weight. This makes it safe, easy to handle and work on site. Perfect for the pre-cast drainage market.

Impact Resistant
With a higher impact resistance than other materials GRC makes it more able to resist potential transport, site handling and installation damage.

Compatible with Concrete
GRC is a crack resistant material compatible with concrete and has excellent surface bonding features. GRC blends and adapts to in-situ cast concrete and eliminates future product separation as can happen to polymer based materials.

Weather Proof
GRC will not rust or rot, needs no painting and because it contains no steel it will not corrode or expand. GRC does not suffer from traditional concrete product cancers.

Impermeable and Water Resistant
GRC is virtually impermeable to water thus making it ideal for water related produts such as drainage, channels, sumps and pumping chambers.

Chemical Resistance
Higher density and high cement contents of GRC compared to concrete give it a higher chemical resistance than other cement-based materials. For extreme conditions GRC is easily acceptable for coatings of epoxy based products for greater protection from alkalis, acids and other chemicals.

Fire Resistant
It will not burn or emit smoke when compared with other polymer products and other light weight fire resistance materials. This gives architects and designers greater flexibility in specifying components to satisfy fire performance requirements.
